The base maps were developed from U. S. Geological Survey Digital Line Graph files State Boundaries of the U. S., November, 1999, and the feature location data was based on

• The United States [1993] published by National Geographic Society, November 1993, and
• Battlefields of the Civil War with Descriptive Notes published by National Geographic Society, April, 1961.
